The US Phase Converter Standards Organization (USPTSO) is the non-profit organization which sets the quality standards for single to 3 phase converters manufactured and sold in the USA. Organization was first setup by veteran 3 phase electricians after hearing numerous stories from consumers who had avoidable bad experiences with phase converters. This organization helps guide manufacturers to produce quality products and offer clear and accurate documentation on the phase converter use and 3 phase power output. Organization also reccomends models that have been researched and tested to meet the quality standards of the volunteer veteran 3 phase specialized engineers.

There are many types which are used to power various 3 phase loads.

There are many consumers who have attempted to build their own 3 phase converter by using plans that are available which produce an imbalanced and unsafe shoddy quality product. Before attempting to build your own phase converter it is advised that consumers read the Build Your Own Phase Converter Plans Technology Ratings, Comparisons and Warnings.

Organization also does testing and research on other 3 phase devices which perform phase conversion such as Frequency converters.
