Triple X is a former wrestling stable that participated in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. The team consisted of "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels, "Primetime" Elix Skipper, and Low Ki. The team was formed in late 2002, originally as part of Vince Russo's Sports Entertainment Xtreme superstable.
The Triple X rule
One of the unique trends begun by Triple X was the "Triple X Rule" (which is precedented by the earlier Freebird Rule). When Low Ki and Elix Skipper won the NWA World Tag Team Championship on January 22, 2003, TNA officials permitted them to allow Christopher Daniels to defend the title as well.
On May 7 of that year, Christopher Daniels became the first ever solo holder of the NWA World Tag Team Championship. He won a handicap match with then-champions Amazing Red and Jerry Lynn by disqualification (in TNA, championships do change hands by countout or DQ). They used their "Triple X Rule" to allow Elix Skipper to defend with him.
Split and reunion
After Low Ki left TNA in July 2003, Triple X parted ways the next month and both Daniels and Skipper focused on singles careers.
They were brought back together on May 26, 2004, as the Team NWA tag team for the TNA World X Cup that pit teams from NWA, Japan, Mexico and Canada against one another.
After helping Team NWA win the Cup, they stayed together and went after the NWA Tag Team belts once more. In an ironic twist of fate, they would each win the belts separately with members of their sworn enemies, America's Most Wanted.
Elix Skipper and Chris Harris won the titles from The Naturals on September 8, but were beaten by Daniels and James Storm on September 21, who held them until losing to Team Canada's Bobby Roode and Eric Young on October 12.
After that loss, the feud restarted in earnest, leading to a Six Sides of Steel match at Turning Point 2004 on December 5, a rematch of an August 2003 Steel Cage encounter, where the losing team was forced to disband. In a match that saw Elix Skipper do the now-legendary cagewalk rana, AMW got the win when they handcuffed Daniels to a corner and put the Powerplex--Triple X's own finisher--on Skipper. Triple X was forced to separate forever. This match can be seen on the Turning Point 2004 DVD, The Best of Christopher Daniels (partially), & The Best of The Bloodiest Brawls.
Triple X were heels in their original run. Their Team USA run turned them face, but they reverted to heels after the Tag Team title mixup with AMW.
Final split aftermath
After their legendary match-of-the-year at Turning Point, Christopher Daniels remained heel while Elix Skipper turned face. The partnership turned into a bitter feud as Daniels fully turned on Skipper to win the TNA X Division Championship at Destination X 2005. Skipper was able to get his first shot at the X-Division Title at the all-Six Sides of Steel pay-per-view, Lockdown 2005. Skipper attempted but was not able to repeat the cagewalk rana, and ultimately lost.
Christopher Daniels went on to hold the belt until Unbreakable, where he lost to A.J. Styles in a three-way dance with Samoa Joe. He would hold it briefly in March and April of 2006 after winning it again in an Ultimate X at Destination X 2006 before losing it again to Samoa Joe.
Mired in obscurity since the breakup, Elix Skipper ultimately turned heel again and joined the Diamonds in the Rough. He has been teaming with David Young for the majority of that time.
Both Skipper and Daniels signed 3-year contracts when TNA moved to Spike TV in October 2005, along with most of the rest of the TNA roster.
Originally thought to be one who would never return after the conflicts and bitter parting between the two parties in 2003, Low Ki returned at Lockdown 2006 under the new name "Senshi", defeating Christopher Daniels after reversing an Angel's Wings into a pin. He has since signed again with TNA.
