Gelug Lama of the 20th Century (b.1900 d.1981). A direct disciple of Je Phabongkha. During his life time he held many important positions within the Gelug School including Ganden Tripa, the head of Gelugpa's, he was also the Philosphical Assistant to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and later his Junior Tutor. He was the root lama of many of the most important Gelug Lama's to teach in the West including, Geshe Rabten, Lama Yeshe, Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.
Trijang Rinpoche was also responsible for editing the classic Lamrim text Liberation in the Palm of Your Hand and propogating the controversal practice of the Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden.
