Trevor the Traction Engine is a fictional character from The Railway Series by Rev. W. Awdry, as well as the TV Series Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends, and takes the form of a steam traction engine.

He first appeared in the story Saved from Scrap, when Edward the Blue Engine mentioned it to the local Reverend who acquired Trevor for his orchard. After this, Trevor was passed into the hands of a local craftsman called Jem Cole, who uses Trevor to haul goods to the farms, move obstructions from the railway lines and other odd jobs.

Trevor loves to work in the orchard and give rides to children. He has made friends with Boco and Edward, but is very quiet and shy. He is disliked by most road vehicles as he is too slow, but is still very reliable. He loves the railway and has no prejudice against any of the engines. He now lives at the orchard at Wellsworth on Edward's Branch Line, but he previously lived at The Scrapyard on Edward's Branch Line.

Trevor is based around a Foster & Rastrick Traction engine built in the 1910s for hay threshing and hauling heavy loads. Many of them are still used and looked after by steam enthusiasts, and are often the highlight of many vintage vehicle rallies. He is also based on the Rev. 'Teddy' Boston's (who was the Rev.W.Awdry's friend) traction engine 'Fiery Elias'.

In the television show, Trevor is painted dark green. In the Railway Series, Trevor begins painted black, but later (in the book Thomas and the Twins) he is painted green.
