The Trans-Caribean gas pipeline was started on 8 July 2006 by presidents Hugo Chávez of Venezuela, Alvaro Uribe of Colombia and Martín Torrijos of Panamá, it will pump gas from Colombia to Venezuela and, after 7 years, from Venezuela to Colombia.

The construction will take 2 years and it will cost more than US$ 200 millions.
