Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam is an upcoming video game based on Tony Hawk's Pro Skater franchise. It has been said that this game will be aimed at being accessible to a somewhat younger audience than the previous games, but still remains entirely appealing to the older ones as well. The game has been confirmed to be available exclusively for the Nintendo's Wii, Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance.
The version of Downhill Jam for Wii is being developed by Toys For Bob, who already developed Disney's Extreme Skate Adventure.
It has been confirmed that the Wii version will feature a multiplayer mode with 2 (and possibly 4) players competing head-to-head on one screen.
In the playable E3 demo of the game, there appeared to be nine characters to choose from. They included Tony Hawk himself, as well as eight other fictional characters, all seeming to be generic stereotypical characters. They included Jinx (A gothic female skater), Crash (A banged up male skater with two arm casts), Bud (A tattooed gangster looking male skater), Ammon (A Basketballer typer male skater), MacKenzie (A British-Punk Rock type female skater), Kyla (A female type skater), Gunnar (A big muscular male skater) as well as a blonde female skater.
The Nintendo DS version is being developed by Vicarious Visions, who gained much experience with the Tony Hawk franchise by adapting almost every previous version for Game Boy Advance and, with Tony Hawk's American Sk8land, also for Nintendo DS.
It has been confirmed that the Nintendo DS version will feature a multiplayer mode with up to 4 players using Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.
The DS version of this game is confirmed to have voice chat, but to what extent is unknown.
