Toll House is a brand of cookies and brownies marketed by Nestlé, S.A. – It is named for the Toll House Inn near Whitman, Massachusetts, where Ruth Graves Wakefield is credited with inventing the chocolate chip cookie in 1937. The Toll House brand is mentioned in television show Friends where Phoebe's wedding present to Monica is her grandmother's recipe for cookies. After losing the recipe, Monica spends days sampling different cookies, only to later find that the cookies were actually Toll House.
