Tiffany & Co. () is a jewelry company founded by Charles Lewis Tiffany and John B. Young in New York City in 1837. Considered one of the world's finest jewelry companies, Tiffany & Co has opened stores in major cities all over the world, including London, Rome, Tokyo, Toronto, Hong Kong and Sydney.

History

The original boutique was located on Broadway and had a revolutionary policy that each item's price was non-negotiable. In 1853, Charles Lewis Tiffany assumed control of the entire company and has since expanded to selling high-end household items as well.

The Tiffany flagship store on New York's Fifth Avenue at 57th Street is a popular tourist attraction, largely as a result of the 1961 movie Breakfast at Tiffany's which starred Audrey Hepburn. Tiffany's opened its first store outside of New York in San Francisco's Union Square in 1963 and internationally in Tokyo in 1972. The corporation has since undergone a large expansion project, opening flagship stores in London's Bond Street and Tokyo's Ginza district. The firm has spread globally and boasts stores in Asia, Europe and Latin America.

Quality

Tiffany & Co. offers a wide array of jewelry varying in price, guaranteeing the highest quality. Its entry level pricing is very competitive and set as such to allow "aspiration shopping." This allows a 13-year-old to get a silver necklace for her birthday (Tiffany does offer gifts for babies as well) and continue upwards from there, with 18th Birthday present, to an engagement ring and onwards. A smart form of marketing that differentiates it from other large jewelers, whose entry-level prices are somewhat higher.

According to their own website they revised the Great Seal of the United States in 1885, and Tiffany's standards for sterling and platinum have been adopted by the U.S.

There has been fear over the last few years that the brand itself has been damaged by a lack of new and original designs. As a result it is generally perceived that the company has been resting on its laurels. This coupled with weak, impersonal, and uncharismatic top-level management both globally and in individual countries the effect that the ‘little blue bag’ has is diminishing.

Tiffany boxes, bags and other items sport the Tiffany Blue color, a registered trademark *.

Tiffany & Co.'s business division also produces trophies. In addition to a number of standard designs, Tiffany & Co. has also produced custom trophies including:
