In The Gathering, The Thran were a Dominarian race of humans, but their technology level was much more advanced than any other Dominarians. Their devices ran off of powerstones which had stable artificial The Gathering) in them. They were introduced in the Urza's Saga set, with such cards as Thran Quarry and Thran Dynamo amongst others. These cards require colorless mana to put into play, except the Thran Quary which as a land card requires no mana for play.
