Thomas Kahlenberg (born March 20, 1983) is a Danish professional football player who, as of 2006, is playing for French club AJ Auxerre. He is one of the most talented Danish midfielders, and he was the youngest member of the Denmark national football team at the tournament. Kahlenberg has played handful of matches for the senior national team, as well as more than 20 matches for the Denmark under-21 team.
At the age of 15, he moved from lower league club Hvidovre IF to Danish champions Brøndby IF. Kahlenberg made his senior debut for Brøndby on May 12, 2002 against arch-rivals FC København, at the penultimate match of the 2002-2003 season. The 1-1 draw helped Brøndby secure that year's championship. During his first years, Kahlenberg played in the central midfield, setting up the attacks with his great technique and view for the game. He debuted for Denmark on April 30, 2003 in a 1-0 friendly win against Ukraine.
In his last season for the club, Kahlenberg was moved out as left midfielder, following the sale of Swedish international winger Mattias Jonson. Cutting into the field from his wide position, Kahlenberg managed to become Brøndby's 2004/05 league top goalscorer with 13 goals, leading the club in winning The Double.
In July 2005, the French club Auxerre bid around £2.5 for Kahlenberg. An offer he accepted, as he signed a four-year contract. Kahlenberg is still active in the Denmark under-21 team, and he was selected for the Danish squad for UEFA U-21 Championship 2006 in May 2006. As age restrictions are calculated from the start of the qualification matches in September 2004, he will compete in the tournament at age 23.
