The Thirty Comrades are the beginning of the modern Burmese/Myanmar army called Burma Independence Army (BIA). In Apr 1941, Burmese youth were sent to Japan for military training to fight the British for independence . Their leader was General Aung San. They were trained by Japanese in Hainan Island (China) and returned back to Burma with the Japanese army. The British were driven out of Burma to India during World War II.
