The Rocket was a free weekly newspaper which was published in Seattle and Portland, Oregon. Each city's issue contained mostly the same content with some slight variations, though occasionally the cover stories would be different. The newspaper's chief purpose was to document local music. It is no longer being produced.
During the 1990's The Rocket was an indispensable guide to the Pacific Northwest music scene due to music making up the vast majority of its coverage, as opposed to other NW papers such as the Seattle Weekly or the Willamette Week which focused more on local news and politics.
