The Renascent is a cultural project started in 2005 to, "enliven the ailing culture of our times." The project consists of a website and a series of printed books that showcase artists, writers, musicians/songwriters, and other producers of culture. Each edition focuses on a different aspect of culture and different artists. The project is produced in conjunction with theStateofArt.com webzine, which focuses on similar topics.

History

The Renascent began in the summer of 2005 as a project designed to enliven the ailing culture of our times. Its founders JSB Morse and E. Robert Morse set out to bring art and ideas behind art together in a printed media that would be distributed around the world. The Renascent is the rebirth of high culture in painting, writing, photography, music, and more.

The State of Art is the webzine that helps produce, facilitate, and organize each edition. One may notice that the online magazine focuses on many of the same topics, though it contains different content.

It is the goal of the founders of The Renascent to encourage high culture and those who produce it. Each of the artists/writers found in the volumes have contact information which can be used to support each artist, or contact for commission.
