The Rembrandts are a band formed by Phil Sōlem and Danny Wilde in 1989. They had previously worked together under the name Great Buildings in 1981.
The Rembrandts are most famous for the song "I'll Be There for You," the theme for the popular sitcom Friends. It reached #17 on the U.S. Billboard charts, despite never being released as a single. The single has been released in other territories, including the UK, where it went to number 3 in 1995 and number 5 in 1997. The success of Friends has led to a greater awareness of the band and therefore sales of their self-penned material. They also had an earlier hit, "Just the Way It Is, Baby" in 1990.
They disbanded in 1997, but reunited in 2000 and recorded a new album called Lost Together, which was released May 12, 2001.
