The Real Group is a Swedish a cappella group, consisting of five members: soprano Margareta Jalkéus, alto Katarina Henryson, tenor Peder Karlsson, baritone Anders Edenroth, and bass Anders Jalkéus.

The group was formed in 1984 and has performed at more than 2000 concerts worldwide and released more than 10 CDs.

The group's members compose or arrange most of the songs that they perform. A large fraction of the group's songs are sung in English, with the remainder being in Swedish.

Trivia

Margareta and Anders Jalkéus used to be married to each other, but are now divorced.

The group cites Bobby McFerrin as an early source of inspiration.

Vocal ranges of the members:

  • Margareta Jalkéus: From F below middle C up to G above high C.
  • Katarina Henryson: From D below middle C up to high C.
  • Anders Edentroth: From C below middle C up to A below high C.

To cemmorate the 50th birthday of Queen Silvia of Sweden, The Real Group performed an acapella "duet" of the ABBA hit, Dancing Queen with former band member, Annifrid Lyngstad.

In general, The Real Group does not tour in the United States, due to the longer tour lengths that US booking agents typically demand.
