The MathWorks is a privately-held, mid-size, multi-national corporation which specializes in technical computing software. Their main products include MATLAB®, Simulink®, and Stateflow®. The company was founded by Jack Little (President & CEO), Cleve Moler (Chief Scientist), and Steve Bangert (now inactive) in 1984. The headquarters is in Natick, Massachusetts and currently employs nearly 1,500 people world-wide (over 66% of which work at the company headquarters). It is a regular sponsor of Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and National Public Radio (NPR). It also sponsors the SDR Forum's Smart Radio Challenge (where student teams build and demonstrate a software defined radio) and the US Department of Energy's Challenge X (a student contest to 're-engineer a crossover sport utility vehicle to minimize energy consumption, emissions, and greenhouse gases while maintaining or exceeding the vehicle's utility and performance').
Some employees of The MathWorks occasionally refer to themselves as MathWorkers.
