The King and I is a 1956 musical film starring Yul Brynner and Deborah Kerr. The film is based on the Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II musical "The King and I". The story revolves around Mrs. Anna Leonowens (Kerr), a schoolteacher who goes to Bangkok to teach English to the children of the royal household of King Mongkut (Brynner).

Awards


Brynner won an Oscar as Best Actor for his portrayal, and Kerr was nominated as Best Actress.
