The Brothers Chaps are Michael (Mike) and Matthew (Matt) Chapman, the duo responsible for the creation of the Homestar Runner series of animated cartoons. The brothers are originally from Indiana, but now live in Atlanta, Georgia. They are actual siblings.
Matt is the primary voice actor of the site, doing the voices for nearly all the characters, with the exception of Marzipan, who is voiced by Mike's wife Missy Palmer. Matt also attended and graduated from Florida State University.
Mike, a University of Georgia alumnus, is responsible for half of the Macromedia Flash animation, the technical aspects of the site, and provides intentionally poor imitations of his brother's voice work for the Powered by The Cheat cartoon series.
The "Little Girl" who appears in the puppet shorts is the daughter of one of the Chapmans' other siblings.
The "Other Little Girl" also lives in Georgia, but it is unknown if she is also a daughter of one of the Chapmans' siblings.
Their parents, affectionately referred to as "Strong Dad" and "The Mother Chaps" are Don and Harriet Chapman. Don Chapman died on April 15, 2006, at the age of 66.
The brothers may or may not be heavy metal fans, as references to Shrapnel Records, Impelliterri and various parody metal band names (most notably Limozeen) and such can be found in Strong Bad Emails. They also have a clever insight into death metal, and specifically reference Scandinavian death metal (which, truly spoken by Strong Bad, is a particularly popular form of death metal). Other musical references include an appearance made by the hardcore punk band Black Flag's lead singer Henry Rollins in Episode 5 of Teen Girl Squad.
In addition to her contributions to Homestar Runner, Missy works in the film industry as a producer and assistant director.
