Trivia
- The original ending didn't go down well with test audience due to the couple's split which Aniston fans found upsetting. As a result Universal Studios had to re-shoot.
- According to the Chicago Tribune: "the first ending made basically the same point in a slightly different way"
- In some scenes. Gary playes video games on his PlayStation 2, for example San Andreas. He is also seen playing Fight Night Round 3 on the Xbox 360
- One of the film's scenes is set at a concert performed by alternative country band, Old 97's in Chicago's Riviera Theater.
- Vince Vaughn lost 26lbs for the role
- Brad Ausmus, Todd Hollandsworth, and Derrek Lee are a few of the actual Major League Baseball players seen throughout the movie at Wrigley Field or on Gary's television.
- Among other songs played in the movie's soundtrack, the first song selection, coupled with snapshots of the then-happy couple, was Queen's "You're My Best Friend." Also featured in the film are the songs "Story of My Life" by Social Distortion, "You Oughta Know" by Alanis Morissette and "Time Bomb" by the Old 97's. The closing song, which may portend the future of their relationship, is Johnny Nash's, "I Can See Clearly Now," a hit of 1972.
- In the scene where Gary is playing a game on his PlayStation 2 with Brooke's date, Jennifer Aniston's character can be seen reading a magazine with Angelina Jolie's face on the cover. This could be interpreted as humourus on Jennifer Aniston's part seeing as Angelina Jolie was blamed for Aniston's real life break up with Brad Pitt.
- Nacho Libre was originally scheduled for release the same date as this film, but was delayed, and instead, opened on June 16, 2006 in the USA.
- "The Tone Rangers" is the name of an actual acapella group in Washington DC, who are thanked in the credits. --Official site
