Tír Chonaill (anglicized as Tyrconnel) was the name of a kingdom which covered much of what is now County Donegal; indeed Tír Chonaill is still the name by which it is referred to amongst its many native Irish speakers, in addition to many other Irish people.

It was founded in the fifth century by Conall Gulban of The Connachta, ancestor of the Cenél Conaill dynasty who would rule the kingdom till the Flight of the Earls in September 1607, which marked the end of the kingdom.
