The Swiss Football League is organised in several leagues.

1. Swiss Super League, 10 teams, the top league in Switzerland.
2. Challenge League, 18 teams
3. 1st league: three groups with 16 teams each
4. 2nd league inter-region, usually just called the "2nd league inter": five groups with 14 teams each
5. 2nd league: organised by region
6. 3rd league: regional league, between two and six groups
7. 4th league: regional league
8. 5th league: the bottom league
