Suniel Shetty (born 11 August 1961) is an Indian actor. He was born in Mangalore, Karnataka, India. He was formerly known as Sunil Shetty before changing his name.

Biography


Career

Sunil Shetty made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with the film Balwan. The film was a success and started his career. His breakthrough role came with the film Mohra. This was followed by mostly action movies which made him even more popular. He did many films with action star Akshay Kumar, which resulted in hits. He went on to do roles which showed patriotism such as Border (1994), LOC Kargil (2003) and Qayamat (2003.

His performance in Dhadkan was praised as he played a villainous role. He received the Filmfare Best Villain Award for his role. He has tried to do many comic roles with little success, though his role in Hulchul was appreciated. Hera Pheri was was another hugely successful comedy film that he did, costarring with Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal.

Shetty also has a production company called Popcorn Entertaiment. The company have produced films such as Khel (2003) and What If You Can See the Future (2004). The company has had little success.

Of his recent films he had hits with Dus, Deewane Huye Pagal and Phir Hera Pheri.

Personal life

Sunil is married and has two children.
