Stephan Douglas Jenkins (born on September 27, 1964 in Oakland, California, USA) is best known as the lead singer, songwriter and guitarist for Third Eye Blind. Under Jenkins' leadership, Third Eye Blind has sold over eight million copies of their three albums Third Eye Blind (1997), Blue (1999), and Out of the Vein (2003). Jenkins wrote or co-wrote many of the band's most notable hits, including "Semi-Charmed Life", "Jumper", "How’s it Gonna Be", "Losing a Whole Year", "Graduate", "Deep Inside of You", "Never Let You Go" and "Blinded".

Jenkins has entered other ventures both in the music business and in Hollywood, including acting in the films Rock Star (2001) as Bradley, and Art of Revenge (2003), in which he played the lead role Matthew Kane. He grew up in Palo Alto, California, and graduated as valedictorian of his class at University of California, Berkeley in 1987, with a B.A. in English Literature.

Jenkins was included on People magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People" list. He broke up with actress Charlize Theron on October 2001. Third Eye Blind's latest album, Out of the Vein, explores the emotions he experienced as a result of the breakup. Jenkins is now dating singer Vanessa Carlton, and the two have been together for over two years. He produced her second album Harmonium (2004) and co-wrote several of its tracks, including the lead single "White Houses".

Notable TV Appearances

Jenkins appeared on the famous Candid Camera show Punk'd where his second girlfriend Vanessa Carlton was the subject of the practical joke. During Carlton's rehearsal for a scheduled performance on The Tonight Show in November 2004, Punk'd crewmembers disguised as staff from The Tonight Show told Carlton to change both the bridge of the song and the line "I'm too thin" (in light of the publicity surrounding Mary-Kate Olsen's bout of anorexia nervosa). Upon realisation that it was a trick, Carlton told Kutcher, "All I have to say is 'thank the f---ing Lord'". (She performed the original version of the song on The Tonight Show on November 18 2004, and the Punk'd episode was aired in May 2005.)
