Star Trek: Tactical Assault is a new Nintendo DS / Sony PSP game developed by Quicksilver Software (The creators of Starfleet Command) and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is currently looking at a September 2006 release date in the United States.
Single Player
There will be 2 playable campaigns, covering a range of missions. The Starfleet campaign is set in 2284 (predates the Star Trek movie, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn) while the Klingon campaign is set after the Khitomer Massacre of 2346.
Multiplayer
Both versions (DS and PSP) will have 1-on-1 multiplayer battles. There will be roughly 20 playable ships among 5 races; Federation, Klingon, Romulan, Gorn, and Orion. Unfortunately, no word on whether the DS will support Download play or take advantage of Nintendo's Wi-Fi gaming service.
From screenshots, it can be determined that the Constellation and Miranda class Federation ships are playable, as well as the Klingon D7 and Bird of Prey. There also seems to be a new, large starfleet ship with 3 nacelles and a body similar to the Miranda.
Publications
Currently, the only published articles relating to Star Trek: Tactical Assault is the article on page 27 of the June 2006 issue of Nintendo Power, and a single screenshot and blurb in the March issue of Game Informer.
Unfortunately, almost no new information was released at E3 in May 2006, with playable versions of the game at the Bethesda booth, open only to the Press.
