Stan Gooch (born 1932 in London, England), is a British psychologist and the leading proponent of the hybrid-origin theory, which hypothesizes that modern humans originated approximately 40,000 years B.P. as a result of interbreeding between at least two types of archaic human species, for example Cro-magnon and Neandertal.

A great part of Gooch's work includes his strongly held belief that a part of the brain known as the cerebellum is responsible for dreams, and is the location of the unconscious mind. His book published in 1980 entitled The Double Helix of the Mind included a detailed argument against Roger Sperry's split-brain theory (for which Sperry received the Nobel prize).
