SriLankan Airlines is the national airline of Sri Lanka. The airline was formerly known as Air Lanka, and replaced Air Ceylon as the national carrier in 1978. The airline has its hub at Bandaranaike International Airport, Colombo. SriLankan Airlines flies to cities in Europe, and Asia. It has been voted best airline in south Asia by Skytrax.
The Airline also has a domestic arm, SriLankan Air Taxi which flies to the following destinations:
In addition, 2 Airbus A320s, 2 Airbus A330s and 2 Airbus A340 were destroyed or partially destroyed during an LTTE assault on Bandaranaike International Airport in 2001.
