A Soret Peak is a a term commonly used in absorption spectroscopy corresponding to a wavelength of maximum absorption. The soret peak is frequently utilized in describing the absorption of vividly pigmented heme-containing moieties, such as various cytochromes. For example, Cytochromes P450, a class of enzymes important in the metabolism of various substances in the liver, contains a soret peak at 450nm.
