Smarthome was one of the first ecommerce companies in the world. Smarthome is a wholly owned subsidiary of SmartLabs Inc., a privately held corporation. Smarthome retails and distributes over 7,000 products from over 700 manufacturers through their website and the Smarthome catalog. The company also sells to installers and resellers through the Smarthome Pro division. Located in Irvine, California, Smarthome was one of the early ecommerce companies launching its website in 1995.

History


Smarthome was founded in 1992 by Joseph J. Dada III at a time when "home automation" was still a relatively unknown term.

Retail Stores


As an innovative company, in 2004 they opened the world's "first home automation retail store" where you can try out and test over 600 home automation products. The Smarthome Factory Store is located in Irvine, California.

Product Line


Smarthome carries over 7,000 third party products ranging from lighting controls, home theater, automated pet products, security & surveillance products and more. They also carry over 50 proprietary lighting control products designed by SmartLabs Design, creators of best-in-class home control products. These proprietary products use INSTEON technology, developed by a group of engineers at SmartLabs Technology. Smarthome Direct, SmartLabs Design and SmartLabs Technology are all divisions of the parent company, SmartLabs Inc.
