Sinepuxent Bay is an inland waterway, which connects the Chincoteague Bay to the Ocean City Inlet. It separates the mainland of Delmarva, from Assateague Island. The Island is accessible via The Varrazzano Bridge(not to be confused with a similarly named bridge that connects Staten Island with Brooklyn), both were named for Giovanni da Verrazzano, who explored the regional coastline on a voyage in 1524. The nearby town of Berlin, MD was formerly named after the bay.
