Simon Douglas Keynes MA, PhD, Litt.D, FBA (born 23 September 1952) is the current Elrington and Bosworth Professor of Anglo-Saxon at Cambridge University. He was educated at the Leys School and Trinity College, Cambridge.
Keynes is the son of Richard Darwin Keynes and his wife Anne Adrian. His brothers are Randal Keynes (father of the actor Skandar Keynes) and Roger Keynes. He is the grandson of the surgeon Geoffrey Keynes and Nobelist Edgar Douglas Adrian, 1st Baron Adrian, grandnephew of the economist John Maynard Keynes and great-great-grandson of Charles Darwin. He has a son Henry by the musicologist Tethys Carpenter.
He has been head of the Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic department at Cambridge since 1999, and has published numerous articles on Anglo-Saxon history.
