Silchester is a village and civil parish in Hampshire, UK. At the 2001 census it had a population of 918. It is best known for the adjacent archaeological site of Silchester Roman Town or Calleva Atrebatum.

Location


Silchester is located ten miles south-west of the large town of Reading, and five miles north of Basingstoke. The village itself has its own school, pub and a Roman wall with amphitheatre.
