Ancient Sumerian city, also called Curuppag. The meaning of its name is unknown. It's located in modern Tell Fa'rah 125 miles south east of Baghdad, and was first excavated in 1902 by the "Deutsche Orient-Gesellschaft".

Shuruppak was dedicated to Sud or Ninlil, the goddess of grain and the air. The Sumerian king Ziusudra (sometimes considered analogous to Noah) lived there.
