Shredder is a very strong chess program developed in Germany by Stefan Meyer-Kahlen in 1993. It is a six-time World Computer Chess Champion and the 2005 World Computer Speed Chess Champion. On the January 3 2006 SSDF rating list, Shredder 9.0 placed third, with a rating of 2818 — one point below Fritz 9.0, and 34 points below #1 ranked Fruit 2.2.1, which had a rating of 2852. Version 10.0 was released in June 2006.
