Shorewood High School is a comprehensive public secondary school located in the village of Shorewood, Wisconsin. It is in the Shorewood School District. Approximately 650 students attend it from September through June. Along with the strong drama department at SHS, the following programs/clubs also achieve high success in competitions, etc: swim team, cross country team, track team, boys' & girls' soccer, forensics, sympony orchestra, wind ensamble, chamber & chorale choirs, and mock trial.

Drama department

Shorewood High School is nationally renowned for its drama department, which as of the '05-'06 school year has been under the direction of Barbara Gensler for over thirty years. It houses a minimum of three shows annually. The Performing Arts Building suffered two fires in 2005. The first, in March, caused approximately $6,000 in damage. The second, which the Shorewood Police Department suspect to be arson, caused $600,000 in damage. No specific person was ever accused or apprehended.

The Shorewood Drama Department was the first high school in the world to perform the musical "A Chorus Line" in 1986, and the first to perform "RENT" in 2006. The massive theater with over 1,000 seats was modelled after the Radio City Music Hall in New York. The high school has been mentioned in the New York Times along with three other schools for its outstanding theater and its ability to "spend more money on a drama production than than on their director's annual salary." * The department has won multiple 1st place awards throughout the years at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
