Shirts versus Skins is a basketball term describing a common form of informal pickup game. Because players in unorganized games do not wear uniforms, it can often be difficult to distinguish one's teammates from the opposing team. In a "shirts versus skins" game, players on one team remove their shirts and play topless, thus making the identification of teammates easier. For a variety of reasons, this is rarely done when women are playing.
