• A formal settlement forming part of a town planning scheme.
• A location as used in South Africa
• An archaeological site with previous human occupation.
• A settlement (law) is an agreement resolving a dispute.
• The process of swapping the consideration for the deeds, shares, securities, or other financial instrument once the trade, deal, or bargain has been executed; see settlement (finance).
• In the context of an occupied territory, a settlement is a permanent civilian presence protected by a foreign military, such as in Northern Cyprus, the West Bank or Western Sahara. (See also Israeli settlement).
