Scott "Not" Ian (stage name of Scott Ian Rosenfeld, born December 31, 1963) is the rhythm guitarist for the metal band Anthrax and a former guitarist for the crossover band Stormtroopers of Death. He has hosted The Rock Show on VH1 and has appeared on VH1's I Love The 70's/80's/90's as well as VH1's Heavy: The Story of Metal.
Ian was born to a Jewish family in the Bayside section of the New York City borough of Queens on the last day of 1963. On hearing KISS, he quickly absorbed the culture of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal rock movement and NYC hardcore. In 1981 he formed Anthrax with bassist Danny Lilker. He was the only original member of Anthrax still in the band. In 2005, they reformed the Among The Living era lineup to release an anthology album, DVD and embarked on a world tour.
Scott filmed a reality series for VH1 called "SuperGroup". Scott along with Ted Nugent (guitar), Evan Seinfeld (Biohazard, bass), Sebastian Bach (ex-Skid Row; vocals) and Jason Bonham (Bonham, UFO, Foreigner; drums) filmed in Las Vegas, with the premise being to lock several musicians in a house for 12 days and get them to write new, original music and perform a concert. In addition to the five musicians, star manager Doc McGhee (KISS) was in charge and was also living in the house for the duration of filming/recording. The show's first episode aired in May, 2006. Scott also appears on comedian Brian Posehn's music video "Metal By Numbers" which appears on Posehn's MySpace.
Ian is engaged to singer Pearl Aday, daughter of Marvin "Meat Loaf" Aday.
