"School" is a song by the grunge band Nirvana. It is the fourth song on their 1989 album, Bleach. The song was written by Kurt Cobain (credited as Kurdt Kobain).
The song was written about Sub Pop and the "Seattle Scene" at the time. The song was even called "The Seattle Scene" in its early forms. According to Cobain, the song started out as a joke but turned out to be a really good song. The lyrics to the song consist of a mere 15 words.
Live versions of the song appear on the "Come as You Are" single and the From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah album. A version from a 1988 rehearsal at bassist Krist Novoselic mother's house and a 1990 live version of "School" are on the With the Lights Out DVD.
This song was covered by Fear Factory for their album Archetype.
