Satsvarupa dasa Gosvami is a disciple of A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, who founded the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), better known in the west as the Hare Krishna movement. After Prabhupada's death, Satsvarupa was one of eleven disciples selected to become an initiating guru.

Satsvarupa dasa Gosvami is a Vaisnava writer, poet, and artist. He is also the author of Srila Prabhupada's authorized biography, Srila Prabhupada-lilamrta. While traveling, lecturing on Krishna consciousness, and instructing disciples worldwide, he has published over 150 books including poems, memoirs, essays, novels, and studies based on the Vaisnava scriptures. In recent years, his devotional life has included the creation of hundreds of paintings, drawings, and sculptures that capture and express the artist's vision of Krishna consciousness.

Satsvarupa dasa Goswami began suffering from headaches and an anxiety disorder in the early 80s. After twenty years, he suffered a break-down and a precipitous physical decline. Additionally, sometime in 2003 during private meetings with a female therapist, a sexual relationship developed. It was very short lived, but the consquences were significant.

He was asked by ISKCON's Governing Body Commission not to initiate disciples further. At the time of that reporting, he had already left his long-time residence in Ireland and had begun serious treatment with a team of devotees in Northern California. After over two years of persistent team work, the health care team has succeeded in sending his headaches into remission and significantly improving his overall health.

While the task of guru received faithfully from Srila Prabhupada has been daunting, Satsvarupa dasa Goswami remains committed to the relationships with his disciples, supporting them in their spiritual lives however they choose. He has re-committed himself to his vows as a sannyasi and to the sannyasa ashram. Many disciples and devotees have separated themselves from him, seeking other spiritual guidance while some disciples and devotees have taken the opportunity to deepen the relationship with him. Satsvarupa dasa Goswami's writings continue to demonstrate a gritty self-honesty and a dedication to his spiritual master, Srila Prabhupada.
