A presidential election was held in El Salvador on 20 March 1994. The Salvadoran people elected a new president, together with a vice-president, for a five-year term. Armando Calderón Sol of the ARENA party won the most votes, but failed to gain a constitutionally mandated absolute majority. Calderon won the run-off election held on 24 April.
