Salvador’s was opened in 1936, by Augustine Salvador, on his Smith Neck Road dairy farm, in Dartmouth, Massachusetts. The roadside ice cream stand is in a small building, the shape of a large antique “milk can”, which Gus bought and moved from nearby Fort Rodman. In 2005 the “can” was extensively renovated, and now also serves as a local landmark, so much so that toy maker Cat’s Meow has even struck a wooden dingbatt of the establishment.
