Saône is also a commune in the French département of Doubs.

The Saône is a river of eastern France. It is a tributary of the River Rhône. Rising at Vioménil in the Vosges, it joins the Rhône at La Mulatière, just after Lyon.

The name Saône derives from that of the Celtic river goddess Souconna. However, the recorded ancient name of the river was Arar.
