The Île-de-France public transport executive STIF (Syndicat des transports d'Île-de-France) is the authority which controls the Paris public transport network and coordinates the different transport companies operating in Île-de-France, mainly the RATP, the SNCF and Optile. STIF was created in 1959 and is, since 2005 a public establishement. STIF coordinates RATP, SNCF Ile-de-France and the 90 Optile affiliated transport operators. STIF has a real autonomy and is not dependent of the French Government.
