The Royal Victoria Hospital at 687 Pine Avenue West in Montreal, Quebec, Canada was established in 1893, through the financial contributions of two Scottish immigrants, Donald Smith and George Stephen. Over the years, the philanthropy of many prominent members of Montreal's English speaking community helped make the hospital a major centre of healthcare and learning.

In 1920, the hospital became a medical research institute through the Faculty of Medicine of McGill University. In 1929, Dr. Wilder Penfield established the hospital's Neurological Institute. Today, the Royal Victoria Hospital is part of the McGill University Health Centre.
