Rowe is a town in Franklin County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 351 at the 2000 census.

Geography


According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 62.3 km² (24.1 mi²). 61.0 km² (23.5 mi²) of it is land and 1.3 km² (0.5 mi²) of it (2.16%) is water.

Demographics


As of the census2 of 2000, there were 351 people, 154 households, and 105 families residing in the town. The population density was 5.8/km² (14.9/mi²). There were 209 housing units at an average density of 3.4/km² (8.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 99.72% White, 0.28% from other races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.14% of the population.

There were 154 households out of which 22.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.1% were married couples living together, 5.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.8% were non-families. 26.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.28 and the average family size was 2.75.

In the town the population was spread out with 19.7% under the age of 18, 4.3% from 18 to 24, 21.1% from 25 to 44, 36.2% from 45 to 64, and 18.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 48 years. For every 100 females there were 90.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.2 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $41,944, and the median income for a family was $53,750. Males had a median income of $32,143 versus $28,438 for females. The per capita income for the town was $28,134. None of the families and 2.8% of the population were living below the poverty line, including no under eighteens and 3.1% of those over 64.
