The Romney, also called the Romney Marsh is an average size dual purpose breed. Because of it's origins in British marsh country, they have less foot rot problems under wet conditions than most other breeds of sheep. Although sometimes classed as dual purpose the Romney is especially known for it's lusterous long wool. They tend to be seasonal breeders, and generally lamb in mid spring. New Zealand breeders are well known for their excellent Romney's and they have exported their bloodlines to the USA and even back to the UK.
