Roger Newland Shepard (born January 30, 1929 in Palo Alto, California) is a cognitive scientist and author of Toward a Universal Law of Generalization for Psychological Science. He is seen as the father of spatial relations and obtained his Ph.D. in psychology at Yale University in 1955 where he was a member of skull and bones society.

In 2006, he won the Rumelhart Prize. Shepard is Ray Lyman Wilbur Professor Emeritus of Social Science at Stanford University.
