Robert Weale (Born 3 April, 1963), is a welsh Bowls player.
Weale lives in Clehonger, Herefordshire, where he is a key member of a high-flying (nine-pin) skittles team called the Tattibogoes. Weale is sometimes known as Booby.
Career
Weale made his international debut in
1982. He was the youngest competitor in the world outdoor championships in
Aberdeen in
1984.
Welsh Titles
Weale won the Welsh indoor singles title in February 2005. By August, he added the Welsh outdoor singles title, created a record by becoming the only man to hold both titles simultaneously. He also skipped the Weale family quartet to the Welsh outdoor fours title, on five occasions.
World Titles
Weale's career-best performance came in 2000, when he won the world indoor singles title at Potters. In addition, Weale won the fours world outdoor title, also in the year 2000. In the opening event of the current WBT season, Robert reached the final of the International Open for the first time.
Commonwealth Games
Weale boasts an impressive collection of Commonwealth Games medals.
He won the mens singles
silver medal at the
2006 Commonwealth Games in
Melbourne. He has also won a
bronze medal for the mens singles at the
2002 games. Weale has also won two silver medals in mens pairs; with
John Price at the
1994 games and with
Robert Thomas at the
1998 games.
