Revolutions Per Minute is a hardcore/punk rock album by the band Rise Against, released on April 8, 2003. Revolutions Per Minute features the single, "Heaven Knows" and a cover of Journey's single, "Any Way You Want It."
The album is filled with songs that either have to do with political/social issues ("Blood Red, White and Blue") or with personal relationships ("Like the Angel"). Vocalist Tim McIlrath's scratchy yet melodic voice sings of turning his "thoughts into screams/on a world that turned its back down on me" in "Black Masks & Gasoline", and that seems to be the general mood of the album.
Songs such as "Dead Ringer" and "To the Core" show Rise Against's roots in hardcore punk, while others like "Amber Changing" and "Heaven Knows" show a much more melodic and sensitive side of the band that would be even further shown on their hit single "Swing Life Away" from their next effort, Siren Song of the Counter Culture.
The song "Last Chance Blueprint" features clips of dialogue from the film American Beauty.
