Read-ins are usually simple times where people take time out of their schedule to plan a time to read. They might decide to have a three hour read-in or a six day read-in.

Known events

Once, in a small town in Alabama, twelve people, whose names are unknown, had a record twelve day read-in in their town library. It was during this period that the twelve of them together read 154 books. The average page number of the books were 277 pages.

Another read-in is a sit-in but during the time the participants read. This was only demonstrated once in known history which proved unsuccessful in a protest for higher wages by factory workers in upstate New York. Each participant was fired.
